If you want to EXPLORE the glorious scenery of England's most beautiful National Park... nowhere is better placed than AMBLESIDE, right in the centre of the Lake District.

Ambleside is a great base for exploring, touring, walking and cycling situated in the centre of the Lake District National Park, just 1 mile from the North end of Lake Windermere.
Easy access by bus, car, foot or bike to all the Lakes, Mountains and Towns in the Lake District

Many fine mountain and valley walks, both easy and strenuous, start from the hostel doorstep.

Ambleside's has a good choice of restaurants, cafes , pubs and a beautiful church. It offers good shopping, particularly for art, gifts and outdoor gear (not to mention a great chocolate & fudge shop!), and good book shops.

AMBLESIDE BACKPACKERS offers the best backpacker facilities in the area:
STRICTLY NO STAG, HEN OR DRINKING PARTIES.
WE ASK THAT ALL GUESTS KEEP NOISE TO A MINIMUM AFTER 11pm both inside and outside the hostel.
( we don't expect you to have a ball in the hostel after 2300 - we hope you will come back 'cream cracker'd' after walking, cycling or touring the Lakes all day - and then go to sleep ready for the next day)

Most dorms have views of the Fells, and are fitted with washbasins. (and a carpet, - one even has a chair too!!!)
