Micklegate House is not only ideally located, within a few minutes walk of the railway station, with all the facilities you would expect of a great hostel.... it offers you the opportunity to stay in a superb Georgian mansion with a stone-flagged entrance hall, grand sweeping staircase, original panelled rooms, vaulted cellars and a fabulous rococo ceiling featuring Shakespeare's head.

Built in 1752, Micklegate House is said to be the most important Georgian residence south of the River Ouse.

The 400-year-old oak-beamed 'Dungeons Bar' was once the kitchen, where servants prepared meals for the family and their guests. Now it is home to our private, candlelit basement pub that features beers from around the world, and really late closing at the weekends!

We have a variety of rooms, ranging from doubles up to 18 bed dorms.

A complimentary light breakfast is served each morning in our newly opened Vikings Cafe, which may be supplemented by more hearty fare or a well-stuffed wrap for your lunch.
