Just 45 minutes from Shannon Airport, in a lovely rural riverside location, Anne and Dave Hyland and their family operate Shannon Cottage, a renovated and extended 200 year old cottage, on the banks of the mighty River Shannon just 100m from the 12 arched stone bridge that gives O'Brien's Bridge its name.

Shannon Cottage is a Country Home, approved by Bord Failte, the Irish Tourist Board. We offer delightful Bed and Breakfast accommodation. Anne's breakfastasts are spectacular! Our rooms have private facilities, which include toilets and showers.

The village of O'Brien's Bridge is also just 100m from the house; it includes shops, Post Office and local pubs and restaurants. There is an award winning pub/restaurant 200m from the cottage.

Many of the famous Castles of Ireland are but a short journey from the Shannon Cottage; these include Bunratty, Knappogue, Craggaunowen and King John's Castle in Limerick. Shannon Cottage is an ideal touring centre, the Burren, Lough Derg, Connemara, and Killarney all make wonderful day trips. The Hunt Museum, which houses an amazing private collection of artworks, is also nearby.

For fishermen, there is extensive fishing in the River Shannon adjoining our garden or in the many lakes that make up the East Clare Lakelands. Bait is available locally and boats can also be arranged. In August, the fly-fisherman will be after Salmon and Trout, either on the River Shannon or on Lough Derg.

With 18 good Golf Courses easily accessible, Shannon Cottage is an ideal location for a Golf centered Safari in the Mid-West. East Clare Golf Club, host to 1998 West of Ireland Seniors, is just up the road. Other attractive Courses nearby are Casletroy and Dromoland. We can make a reservation for you on these or other courses, which you may choose. You can also tour and visit the many attractions of the Shannon region between rounds.

We are located within a small wildlife sanctuary. There are lovely walking and cycling routes centred on the village and we are only too happy to suggest suitable routes with maps.

Shannon Cottage is 25 miles from Shannon Airport. There is extensive car-rental available at Shannon Airport. Taxis are also available. Public Transport is available but the service to the village here is limited. A hire-car is recommended.

The ferry ports at Dublin, Dun Laoghaire and Rosslare are about 3 hours drive from O'Brien's Bridge; Ringaskiddy at Cork is about 2 hours.
