About Matsumae Ryokan

Welcome to Ryokan Matsumae. We are a traditional Japanese style hotel located only 7 minutes walk from Nara Station, Kintetsu Line. We are in a quiet area and ideal for both short and long period stay in Nara, as we are located within Nara town. Nara Park where you can meet Japanese deer is only 2 min walk from our place.

We are close to many shops and restaurants and have laundry facilities also. Ryokan Matsumae has comfortable Japanese-style rooms with air-conditioning. Four rooms are en suite and other 16 rooms are not.

Facilities include common baths, air-conditioning, TV, parking (free / 3 cars), laundry (at charge), at the lobby (Internet access: 100Yen per 30min).

In Japan, there is a saying which represents the spirit of hospitality- 'Ichigo-ichie'. This means once-in-a-lifetime chance. We await your arrival with warm smiles and hold this eternal tradition in our hearts for you.

Check-out is 10am
Curfew is 10:30pm

Omizutori (Water-drawing Ceremony) -- February.
Takigi Noh (Torchlight, Noh Theater) -- May.
Toka festival (Lantern afloat on the Water) -- August.

From Kintetsu Nara Station -
It is 7 min walk from Nara Station, Kintetsu Line.
We recommend obtaining a map at Tourist Centre (Visitor Centre) in Kintetsu Nara Station before you leave there.
After the exit of Nara Station, go down the Higashimuki Dori to the end. Take left at the end and take right at a convenience store. Then keep straight until you find a pharmacy on your left. Take the left, and you will find our building on your right, after one block from the corner of the pharmacy.

==Directions==
From JR Nara Station -
It is 15 min walk from Nara Station, JR Nara Line.
The easiest way from JR Nara St. is to take a taxi to our place.
If you walk, ask for the directions for Sarusawa Pond. Then there is a police box along the pond.

From Kyoto and Osaka to Nara -
It is about 35min by train from Kyoto and Osaka.

This is probably the cheapest and best place to stay at for a college student or world traveller. I highly reccomend it. The staff and service was the best you can find.

Amazing place, unfortunately only stayed one night but still left a lasting memory. very japanese feeling, excellent all round.
