About YHA Oamaru

This small, traditional and homely hostel is located close to the Bushy Beach Scenic Reserve and just minutes from the town centre. Stay a few days in this friendly and welcoming hostel and experience all that Oamaru has to offer. Relax and unwind, have a BBQ in our garden in the Summer or watch TV in front of the log fire in the evenings during the Winter.
Oamaru is the place to see little Blue and Yellow Eyed penguins, both of which congregate within easy walking distance from the hostel. Oamaru has a magnificent collection of Victorian era white stone buildings, including a museum and art gallery. Browse the market or try a stream train, sample award winning cheeses or visit the Aquatic Centre and public gardens. Only 30 minutes drive to Moeraki Boulders and the Waitaki Valley - home to the "Vanished World" fossil trail.

YHA New Zealand is a non-profit membership organisation. Non-members pay an additional NZ$3 per person per night fee upon check-in. Memberships can be purchased online or at the hostel.
