The building of the Hotel Charles Prague is the original gothic residential house, built in the middle of the 13th century when defensive ditch and rampart were replaced by Gothic buildings and streets. Remains of previous rampart are still preserved in the basement. The house was burned down during Hussite wars and then it was renewed again in 1503.
Expensive renovation of this building was done during the Renaissance in the second half of 16th Century. The last renovation of the Charles Hotel Prague was in 2008.
