Hostel Don Diego offers homely Bed and Breakfast just 3 blocks from the main square of Xela. It lies a stones throw away from all the necessary amenities as well as its own comprehensive tour agency, Adrenalina Tours.
The hostel has a number of cozy rooms set around a tiled courtyard area with ample tables and chairs, ideal for studying or socializing. You will also find sofas and arm chairs for relaxing after a long day exploring the local area.
Owner, Patrick Vercoutere, took over the place in 2009 and is always looking to improve the already popular hostel. Local staff run the hostel day to day and are all way around to attend to the guests.
There is a host of information about the city and surrounding area including guide books, maps and of course plenty about tours and activities offered by the in-house agency and sister company of Adrenalina Tours, Caminando Guatemala.
There are dorm beds available from 45 Quetzals while beds in triple or double rooms are charged at 50Q. There are single rooms for 55Q to 70Q.
Hostel Don Diego also offers weekly and monthly rates for those who are planning to stay a while to enrole in one of the many local Spanish schools. Prices start at 299Q per week and 700Q per month.
A small breakfast is included in the price or the use of the kitchen. If you would like both you will be charged 10Q extra per day to cover the cost of gas and electricity in the kitchen. With the weekly and monthly rates there is no additional charge.
There is a computer with free internet connection as well as WIFI which can be picked up throughout the hostel.
