About Excelsior Hotel

The 'EXCELSIOR' Hotel is located in the city centre, 10 minutes from the train station and 30 minutes from the airport. It has 56 comfortable rooms ranging in size from 16-20 m2. The rooms are singles, doubles and triples. All of the rooms include a bathroom, cable TV and a direct phone line.
The hotel opened on March 14th 1924 . Due to historical and political occurrences the hotel was used for many different things. During World War II it housed the German General Staff, and from 1945 – 1948 it was used to accommodate the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry. It was only returned to its original function in 1948 when it changed ownership, from private hands to the to an ownership by the employees.
During the time it has been in operation the hotel 'EXCELSIOR' has been characterized by a tradition of excellence and good service. Before World War II it played host to many famous and respectable guests, starting with Josephine Baker, foreign and domestic states men, politicians, barons, countesses and others. This tradition has been honored by the hotel 'EXCELSIOR' to this day. The hotel was also used for lengthier stays by many famous authors (Ivo Andric, Milos Crnjanski,Vasko Popa), presidents of states and governments, princes and princesses, famous athletes, actors, singers and other figures in the public eye.
The 'EXCELSIOR' hotel restaurant has a capacity of 100 seats and is located on the ground floor of the hotel. In a comfortable and air-conditioned banquet hall we offer a wide selection of foreign and domestic food and drink. Guests can sample from a rich selection of meals, of both national and all of the most famous foreign cuisines with excellent service. We organize wedding receptions, birthdays, meetings, press conferences, presentations, business lunches, promotions etc.
Two air-conditioned banquet halls of 20-25 seats are located on the first floor of the hotel. They are suitable for organizing meetings, seminars, presentations, business lunches and various festivities.Room facilities include telephone, private shower,TV and hair drier can be provided on request.
All reservations must be guaranteed with a valid credit card that will be charged on arrival date. Reservations must be cancelled at least 2 days prior to arrival date. In case of cancelling within 2 days a penalty of 1 night stay including tax will be applied. No show fee will be 100 % of the full stay including tax.
