HISTORY AND SERENITY
Fernloft Lavender will suit those who desire to stay near the city centre and yet rest in a serene environment. Nestled along Tywhitt Road and linked to Petain Road and Jalan Besar, it is sheided from the hustle and bustle of city life.
Petain Road is a significant road in Singapore's history. It is one of the few areas that is under protection from unauthorized destruction or changes by law and is considered a conserved area in Singapore. Walk down Petain Road and you will surely be impressed by the live historical examples of Singaporean Chinese Architecture that have been here since World War I.
Jalan Besar is a popular tourist destination and is considered the northeastern part of the Central Business District in Singapore. It was constructed a long time ago in 1880. The name Jalan Besar is a Malay name and it means "big or wide road".
Petain Road and some of the other roads in the Jalan Besar area are named after British and French generals and admirals who fought in the First World War. Petain is the name of a French general and the road has been named after him because the Municipal Council wanted the people to keep in mind the clashes that were going on in Europe at that point of time.
FOOD
Another unique attraction of Fernloft Lavender is its proximity to Singapore's best local hawker food - The Lavender Food Square. At this very popular food centre, one may savour many local favorites such as Chicken Rice, Prawn Noodles, BBQ Chicken Wings, Beef Brisket Noodles, Hong Kong Tim Sum and refreshing Sugar Cane Juice! The wide variety here will ensure that you always have a different, colourful and tasty meal @ rock bottom price. These dishes are undoubtedly responsible in putting Singapore on the food map of the world.
Fernloft Lavender is also surrounded by Singapore's most exotic food and at the best bargain prices. Want to try some Turtle Soup, Frog Porridge, or Pig's Organ (Offal) Soup? You will get the best in Singapore right here and at local prices every day.
It is also rumored that the best Thai Tom Yam Soup in Singapore is found at No. 1 Tyrwhitt Road. If you like spicy and sour dishes, you must try it!
Of course, not to forget the spice-rich food and desserts at the nearby Little India enclave, which draws those who desire a traditional Indian gastronomical experience.
