About Crab Hostel Brasil

Located in Ipanema, only 30 meters from the beach and 15 minutes from Copacabana and Leblon Beaches, the Crab Hostel was born in the heart of the most charming neighbourhood in Rio de Janeiro, known worldwide by the immortal song 'The Girl from Ipanema.

Founded in June 2003, and since then opened all year long, the Crab Hostel is managed by people from Rio de Janeiro and provides brand new facilities and a never before seen infrastructure for this sort of accommodation. It is the right choice for backpackers who want to meet other travellers, exchange information and tips, relax in the pool area or even chat in the dorm room. All rooms with bathroom, fan and air-conditioning, except Fishes 10 and 11 which have only fans and bathroom outside.

We are located just 50 meters from restaurants, pubs, coffee shops, bookshops, post office, and much more. Everything you could ask for in the security of a residential area.

It's also here where you'll find the best nightlife in Rio and the traditional Hippie Market, just a few steps from the hostel.
