Why stay in Bath?

Bath is, as the name would suggest, a spa town - just as it has been for millennia. Its legendary hot springs have been attracting visitors since before Roman times, and though most people these days probably do not actually visit the springs themselves the fact that they visit the city at all is largely due to the existence of the hot springs. Modern Bath is full of Roman influence, Medieval history and Georgian architecture to gaze at as well as countless museums, restaurants, pubs and night clubs to entertain.

Most of Bath is easily walkable, so it is generally a simple task to get back and forth from your hostel to the city's attractions. In addition to the city's buses, there are also tourist buses which offer hop on/hop off guided tours of the area's sights. Remember that "hostels" are not only for the young or the backpacking crowd (even if the property has the word "backpacker" in the name!) - they're perfect for budget travelers who are interested in meeting other travelers. A few Bath hostels worth mentioning are highlighted below.

St. Christopher's Inn is part of the St. Christopher's hostel chain and is right in the city center within walking distance of the city's main sights. The Bath YMCA is also centrally located near the sights in an old Victorian era building. YHA Bath is in a mansion with its own gardens and cafe/bar.

If none of these hostels sounds like it's the right one for you, don't worry. There are other Bath hostels listed here which you can choose from. Just keep browsing the descriptions until you find the one that suits your needs.
