Why stay in Nadi?
Nadi is the largest island in Fiji, but is generally only a tranfer point from one place in Fiji to another. That does not mean it is not worth stopping in Nadi, however, for longer than it takes to get from one boat to another. Pickpocketing is not uncommon, so just keep your wits about you and you will have a nice visit.
There are a few hostels and other budget accommodations in Nadi, so you should not have trouble finding one that works for you. The island has a great network of buses to get you from point to point easily and cheaply, too. Keep in mind that "hostels" are not just for young people or the backpacking crowd (even if the place has the word "backpacker" in the name!) - hostels are ideal for budget-conscious travelers who are interested in meeting other travelers. A few Nadi hostels worth mentioning are highlighted below.
Nomads Skylodge is only a few minutes from Nadi's airport and a short distance from the beach and harbor. Nadi Bay Hotel is a 10 minute drive from the airport and has its own swimming pool.
Travellers Beach Resort is right on the beach, as the name indicates, and offers several nice free amenities. Horizon Beach Backpackers Resort is near the beach at Nadi Bay and 10 minutes from the airport.
If none of these hostels sounds like it will be perfect for your needs, never fear. There are other Nadi hostels where those came from. Just keep reading the listings until you find the one that sounds best to you.
