Why stay in Dublin?
Ireland's fantastically vist-able capital is one of the more popular destinations to visit in Europe. Dubliners know how to have a good time, and that relaxed and cheerful attitude is certainly part of why people keep returning to the city year after year. With a small city center that's easily explored on foot, Dublin is a pleasant city in which to stay.
The problem with Dublin, if there is one, is that it's not a cheap city to visit. Its cheap hostels tend to fill up quickly during the high tourist season, so you'll want to do your research and book early so you don't break the bank. Some notable Dublin hostels are highlighted here.
Barnacles Temple Bar House has been featured in several guidebooks and won a few awards, so if it sounds like your kind of place, you'd be well advised to book early. It's centrally located and every room has its own bathroom. Avalon House, located near the Temple Bar area (the center of Dublin's nightlife) has been voted one of Europe's best hostels by backpackers. It's even gone green - it's one of the only hostels in Ireland to use wind energy to power the hostel.
Globetrotters/The Townhouse is a two minute walk from Dublin's main street and features a full Irish breakfast. The building the hostel is in is 200 years old, and it's been faithfully restored and renovated. Kinlay House Dublin overlooks the Christ Church Cathedral in an 1870 Victorian building. It's situated in the Temple Bar district and within walking distance of many of the city's sights.
It seems there is no shortage of interesting, fun and character-filled Dublin hostels to choose from - as noted earlier, the main problem is going to be your ideal hostel filling up before you've had a chance to book it. So don't wait too long, book your Dublin hostel today.
Dublin has several interesting museums on Irish history, including the National Museum of Ireland and Trinity College (where you'll find the Book of Kells), as well as art galleries like the National Gallery of Ireland and the Irish Museum of Modern Art. There is also the Dublin Castle and Christ Church Cathedral, for those looking for more historical buildings. Anyone with a taste for the macabre will be interested in the Bram Stoker Museum as well.
Many visitors to Dublin, however, never make it past the Guinness Storehouse and all the watering holes around town where Dublin's most famous beverage is served - and that's fine. Some of the best impromptu music you'll ever hear is made in Irish pubs.
For your other travel needs, look no further than right here. You can search for international airfare to Dublin and read up on all the things to do and see in the Dublin Travel Guide. If you're looking for cheap hotels in Dublin, visit our friends at EuroCheapo.
