Why stay in Bratislava?
Bratislava is the capital of Slovakia, the largest city in the country and one of the most flourishing areas in Central Europe. Still, Bratislava remains a bit of an undiscovered gem. Prague in the nearby Czech Republic gets all the attention, so it is easy to overlook Bratislava. But for those who visit, it is a charming and cultural city with a lovely historical center. Bratislava is relatively close to Vienna, so it is the perfect place to spend a few days when you want to get away from the tourist hordes.
Keep in mind that "hostels" are not just for young people or the backpacking crowd (even if the place has the word "backpacker" in the name!) - hostels are ideal for budget-conscious travelers who are interested in meeting other travelers. A few Bratislava hostels worth mentioning are highlighted below.
Apartment Historical Centre is, as the name indicates, in the historic center of Bratislava. An apartment is a great solution for groups or families traveling with small children. Possonium is a three minute walk from the train station and a 10 minute walk from the pedestrian zone in the center of the city.
Downtown Backpackers Hostel Bratislava is on the edge of the old town center and within walking distance of the main sights, clubs and bars. Patio Hostel is in the city center, 10 minutes from the main train station and bus station.
