  5. When it comes to travel accommodation (but leaving out crashing with friends, family or people you meet on the road), how often do you stay in hostels?
    Sometimes a hostel, sometimes a hotel or B&B, etc

    Yes

    The atmosphere, friendly and interesting people, great locations and fun.

      Cold shower in Salzburg

      Mostly language barriers

    • Biggest surprise?
      Hostels are actually quite safe

  10. Do you ever book any of your hostel accommodation in advance?
    Always

  11. Why or why not?
    Like to arrive in a country knowing I have a bed for the night... especially if I am arriving late at night!

  12. Who is the most memorable person you met in a hostel and why?
    Shane - extremely interesting to talk to, well rounded and great perspective. Matt - Showed me the bars of NY.

  13. Why do you stay in hostels, as opposed to other types of accommodation?
    Cost considerations, along with the obvious social benefits.

  14. Is there a hostel you'd recommend to other travelers? If so, what is it and where?

  15. What is the biggest myth people have about hostels and hosteling?
    That the facilities are cheap, rundown and no one cares about student travellers - it's the total opposite!

  16. Why do you like to travel?
    Seeing the world is an amazing opportunity and broadens the mind and expands your knowledge like no classroom or textbook will ever be able to do.

  17. What is your advice for other travelers wanting to stay in hostels?
    Be prepared - locks on bags and so on - but not paranoid... and most of all have a great time!
