  5. When it comes to travel accommodation (but leaving out crashing with friends, family or people you meet on the road), how often do you stay in hostels?
    pretty much all the time

    Asia, Australia, Europe, New Zealand

  7. Would you stay in a hostel again on future trips?
    Yes

  8. Why or why not?
    Because they are so cheap, and the greatest way to meet people!

  9. Out of all your experiences hosteling, what was your:
    • Best Moment
      Waking up to eggs on toast every morning.

    • Worst Moment
      Walking up dodgy back streets to get to a hostel.

    • Biggest Hurdle, Obstacle or Difficulty?
      Carrying my pack up thousands of stairs.

    • Biggest surprise?
      The wide range of ages that stay at hostels.

  10. Do you ever book any of your hostel accommodation in advance?
    Sometimes

  11. Why or why not?
    I dont always plan where I am going to be, so lots of my booking is really last minute.

  12. Who is the most memorable person you met in a hostel and why?
    This dude from Italy, he was my hero. He had been biking all around New Zealand and Australia, and now he was biking around Thailand!

  13. Why do you stay in hostels, as opposed to other types of accommodation?
    Because it's a great way to meet people if you're travelling by yourself. They mostly have top facilities for cooking, and internet, and great advice on what you can visit in the city/country.

  14. Is there a hostel you'd recommend to other travelers? If so, what is it and where?
    Bordeaux IYHA, Bordeaux, France

  15. What is the biggest myth people have about hostels and hosteling?
    That they are all dirty, and have squeaky bunk beds.

  16. Why do you like to travel?
    the thrill of navigating your way around a foreign place/city, and Learning a bit of the language along the way.

  17. What is your advice for other travelers wanting to stay in hostels?
    GET TO IT!!!
