Why stay in Moscow?

Moscow is the capital of the largest country on earth, Russia. With an interesting history, world famous museums and some beautiful buildings, Moscow is certainly a great city to visit.
Some of the attractions in Moscow are not to be missed, including The Kremlin (fortified citadel dating back to the 14th century in which you'll find four palaces, four cathedrals, the official resident of Russia's President and lots of museums), Saint Basil's Cathedral (that iconic church with its multi-colored onion-shaped domes), the Tretyakov Gallery (a fantastic museum containing mainly Russian art) and Red Square (Moscow's most famous square). Other things to do in Moscow include catching a show at the famous Bolshoi Theatre or one of Moscow's two resident circuses. If you're curious and can handle the often very-long lines, you can also get a look at Lenin's preserved body in his mausoleum on Red Square. Is it creepy? Absolutely. Do you have an urge to do it anyway? You bet.
Moscow's sights don't all lie within easy walking distance from one another, but the Metro system is good and cheap so you'll have no trouble getting from one attraction to another - or, for that matter, from your hostel to the attractions themselves. Keep in mind that "hostels" aren't just for the young anymore - they're ideal for budget-minded travelers who want to meet fellow travelers. A few notable Moscow hostels are highlighted here.
Napoleon Hostel is in the Kitai Gorod district in Moscow's old town, walking distance to Red Square and the Kremlin. It's the only hostel in Moscow with its own bar. Trans-Siberian Hostel is in the city center and offers both private rooms and all-female or mixed dorms.
Sweet Moscow - Old Arbat is in an historic building on the historic street of Old Arbat, next door to the Pushkin Museum and a few steps from a Metro stop. Yellow Blue Bue Hostel is in the middle of some of the city's nightlife hotspots and a ten-minute walk from Red Square.
Don't worry if none of these properties sound ideal - there are plenty more Moscow hostels listed here. Keep reading descriptions until you find the right one for you.
If you need anything else for your trip, you're in the right place. You can search for international airfare to Moscow and get on your way. And don't forget to read more about the city before you go in the Moscow Travel Guide.
